Tokyo – Zauo Fishing Restaurant

Tokyo – Zauo Fishing Restaurant

Give a person a fish, and you feed them for a day. Have a person fish at a restaurant, and they’ll never fish in the wild again!

Picky Eats – Splash! Goes the fish. At Zauo, they serve all kinds of food, including tempura, tofu, and, of course, fish! Fried fish, sashimi fish, cooked fish, any kind of fish! The other food was excellent, but the fish was amazing. It was cooked (or prepared) perfectly. The most fun part was catching my dinner. In the restaurant was a big pool of water full of fish. IF you ask, you can fish up your own dinner with a rod and net! This part was extremely fun. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone.

WHAT THE PARENTS THINK

Theme based restaurants are fun when done right. In the 80’s it was Hard Rock Cafe’s and CPK’s. Today it’s Dave and Buster’s and Stone Brewery’s.

In Tokyo, there’s a restaurant chain where your party is given fishing poles. Nothing fancy, just a bamboo fishing pole, string, and hook. There are different tanks with different size fish. You will be charged with the size fish you want to catch. They will then prepare it for you, sashimi, sushi, fried, etc..Here’s the interesting part. No bait needed. Crazy talk you say. We’re never going to catch any fish. But sure enough, in 10 minutes, everyone’s pole was jumping. Have I been fishing wrong all these years?

I start doing the math. When I go fishing, I have to buy bait, wake up early, bring all the gear including lawn chair, and hope to catch fish. And when I do catch fish, I kiss it and release it since I don’t know how to prep or cook fish. On the other hand, I go to Zaou’s, throw in my fishing line, catch something in 15 minutes, and then hand my fish over to the master sushi chef in waiting. One word awesome!

I love the freshly prepared sashimi and sushi from the fish I caught. My son doesn’t eat raw fish yet. His fish was fried with a side of rice and tofu. Only real carb was steam rice which I think you can figure out.
