2020 Food/Toy Drive – THANK YOU

2020 Food/Toy Drive – THANK YOU

This is a special message to everyone that donated to this project and helped make it happen. Everyone at Picky Eats, and especially I, are grateful that you contributed to this cause, and helped make this idea a reality!

PICKY EATS GROCERY CARD & TOY DRIVE

GOAL 1 – Picky Eats worked with San Diego Mesa College CDC to raise money to buy grocery cards at a local supermarket. We raised over $1100 for this program.

GOAL 2 – Our initial goal was to raise $400 to buy toys for 40 preschoolers at $10 each. We met and exceeded that goal. Thank you to all those that donated money to this toy drive!. Any extra money we received from donations will go back funding two other charity programs I’m working on at the Mesa College Child Development Center.

The Picky Eats Scholarship – This is a yearly scholarship I will be funding to give out to one college student, that’s also working, and have children to take care of. It’s hard enough to go to school and get a degree. It’s even harder if you also have to work a part/full time job, and have kids to feed. It’s my hope that this money will help reduce childhood food insecurities.

Preschool food card to cafeteria program – I buy $5 food cards that can be used at any San Diego Community College cafeteria. These cards will be given to students that have preschoolers that go to a community college child development center. It’s my hope and goal that the preschoolers don’t go home hungry after being picked up. For $5, the child can get a hot breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING

To all the friends and families that donated to the Picky Eats Toy drive. Your donation of a new toy or money makes an impact to the 40 preschoolers that will have at least one toy during this holiday season.

To all the Picky Eat Volunteers: Connor, Logan, Hanson and Spirit. These are the middle schoolers that helped pick out the presents, wrap them, and also make holiday cards for the families.

To all the Mesa College staff especially the finance and accounting department. They did much of the backend work to make this happen.

To Wal Mart and their store managers. Thank you for taking the time to listen to Aiden and donating to the charity!
