NYC: Ramen Lab

NYC: Ramen Lab

Ramen Lab is a ramen shop owned by Sun Noodle. The ramen changes every 2 months or so. This is because the ramen shop is owned by Sun Noodle, but the restaurant is for ramen chefs to test their recipes. When I went, they were testing a place called Brooklyn Ramen. I ordered shoyu ramen and my dad ordered miso ramen.
My shoyu ramen was great. The broth was nice and had a lot of soy flavor. The noodles were thick and wavy and the char-siu was lean. My dad’s miso ramen had a slab of pork with a chunk of butter on top. I would recommend Brooklyn ramen when they open. Remember to check the menu before you come to Ramen Lab.

WHAT THE PARENTS THINK

  • Very small restaurant.  You eat your ramen at the counter standing up similar to many ramen stalls in Japan.  They have at most, 13 spots.  Turnover is pretty fast.  You’re not there to talk about the Yankees.  Just eat, slurp, and go.
  • The restaurant will supply your child a booster.
  • Typically only three to four ramen choices on the menu.  Remember you’re there to try the owners final product before they open their very own ramen shop.
  • This is a must go if you love ramen.  With new chefs on the pipeline every month, you never know what you’re going to get!!
