Food Blog Format

-1-

Each Food Blog is formatted in the following way:The top of the page will show the city, state, or country the blog is about. The blogs are mainly about restaurants and activities my child has tried and share with the public. This might include picture(s) of a dish my son ordered or the name of the restaurant. My son or Dad will include a nice tag line after the picture.

-2-

The next part of will be the actual food review of the restaurant by my son. You will be able to tell this by the blue font, and the words Picky Eats in front of it with the Letter P that’s drop cap like this.

-3-

The next section will be a review by the parents. This area will contain possible tips if you plan to try this restaurant.

Nutritional Information is the next portion of the blog. It will be in table form. The information in the table will show what my son actually ordered, and when available provide the reader carbohydrate information. We provide this information to help our readers calculate the carbs from the dish we ordered. Not every restaurant my son reviews will have carb information. This portion is much a work in progress. We hope in the future we spend time with the chef to weigh more dishes on the menu and not just the dishes my child ate. Keep in mind, the blog is about what my kid ordered outside of the kids menu. It wasn’t intended to show every dish on a menu.

The table is broken into 8 sections:

  1. Dish – Picture of the dish
  2. Menu Item – Actual name of the dish
  3. Menu Item Closes To – We try to match the actual menu carbohydrate by: Interview the chef, Internet Nutritional Sites, supermarket product, or similar restaurant dish
  4. Serving Size – Measures in grams or unit of the actual carbohydrate only. Example: Turkey sandwich with cheese, we’re only measuring the bread, not the meat and cheese.
  5. Total Carbs – The nutritional carb number that provided from #3. Example, if you look at the nutritional information of Kraft Mac & Cheese, it will give you the serving size and carb information.
  6. Actual Size – The actual dish that arrives at our table and we measure it with a scale.
  7. Actual Carbs – (Total Carbs x Actual Size)/Total Carbs
  8. Notes – Additional information of the dish
